Members Postings
Welcome to Peer 2 Peer, where members of USABP may post their papers or articles and also to read their peers' writings and discuss their ideas. Peer 2 Peer is intended to facilitate the exchange of ideas. While members are certainly encouraged to submit papers to The USA Body Psychotherapy Journal or Keeping in Touch, the USABP's quarterly newsletter, this forum of publication is much less restrictive. Postings are available for viewing by the general public but submissions can only be made by members. Each paper or article reflects the views of the author only and does not represent or reflect the views or positions of USABP although all articles must adhere to the USABP's Ethical Guidelines. Submission instructions are available at the bottom of this page.

ABSTRACT: The author describes her privileged experience studying with the Masters of Somatics during the 70's, 80's, and 90's - Charlotte Selver, Moshe Feldendrais, and Emily Conrad. She acknowledges their powerful and healing impact on her personal life, and shows how she applies the teachings in her current Profession as a Clinical Psychologist. This article expresses her deep appreciation for these revolutionary teachers and the desire to pass on their legacy.
ABSTRACT: Personality has been a concept located at the core of Western body psychotherapy since its creation by Wilhelm Reich. Several body psychotherapy personality typologies have been proposed. Empirical studies of these typologies are not well known, however. A search was conducted in an attempt to locate all empirical studies of body psychotherapy. Among the studies found, this search located 12 studies of body psychotherapy personality theory—11 of Alexander Lowen’s Bioenergetic typology, and one of Charles Kelley’s Radix typology. The method and findings for each of these studies are reported, and a reference list is provided. The purpose is to provide a resource for researchers considering their own research into body psychotherapy personality theory. The conclusions and meaning that might be drawn from the studies will be taken up in a separate paper.
